The objective of the course is to equip delegates with a solid
understanding of the assessment process, which is backed up in
the accompanying handbook. To achieve this the course is designed
to be as practical as possible to enable delegates to be stimulated
in order to encourage proactive behaviour and discussion.

Risk assessments for disabled and older
workers and Access to Work assessments
The course is designed for professionals
wishing to increase his or her knowledge and understanding of
the factors to consider when undertaking risk assessments for
disabled and older workers. It will help assessors that have to
carry out Access to Work assessments for his or her employer and
will cover the ATW process, what happens at the assessment, types
of disability, what goes in a report and what type of things are
funded.
The course is presented by Duncan Abbott who has
worked as a national adviser for Access to Work for the past nine
years. He has worked with the Disability Rights Commission and
the HSE on developing guidance for risk assessments for disabled
workers.

The Advanced DSE assessor
handbook
The handbooks designed for use by all
those DSE risk assessors who require a resource written specifically
for them. The book covers legislation, the 10 ergonomic principles,
posture and covers RULA, (quantitative methods of risk associate
with particular working postures), anthropometrics (body sizes).
The handbook covers workstation set up, how to select ergonomic
products (seating, keyboards, footrests, desking), case studies
and has an extensive resource (short keyboard cuts, how to make
computers accessible, quick fixits). The handbook has 222 pages
and comes with checklists, risk assessment forms and a RULA and
task analysis template.

Personal risk assessments for disabled
workers - THE HANDBOOK
The handbook is widely used by occupational
health advisors, occuaptional health physicians, health and safety
advisors, personnel managers. The handbook covers physical, cognitive,
and sensory disability types and multiple impairments.
The handbook is available under license to be copied, or installed
on to an Intranet in digital format.
