  • It might be that a member of staff is returning to work and requires a comprehensive assessment

Return to work assessments

If you have a staff member returning to work and require a suitable risk assessment to be carried out, we can to do this for you.

It is a legal requirement under the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations that a risk assessment that is suitable and takes into consideration a persons capability is undertaken by a competent person.

The New Fit to Work forms (2010) will require that the assessment identifies what short term solutions need to be put in place, or if the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) applies,  what long term reasonable adjustments must be made.

Risk assessment for workers returning 

Reason

Staff returning to work who have been off work for a period of time will require a suitable risk assessment to be carried out as as required by the new Fit to Work forms (2010) or the the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) for long term reasonable adjustments.

A report is generated that will detail the current situation and what changes the need to be put in place, either short term as required by the new Fit to Work forms (2010) or the long term adjustments required by the Disability Discrimination Act (1995)

Duncan Abbott was national adviser to the Disability Rights Commission on defining the Health and Safety Executive guidance for risk assessors 'How to undertake risk assessments for disabled workers'. This guidance can be found on the HSE website.

DSE ergonomic workstation assessments

We offer a number of Display Screen Equipment (DSE) workstation assessment solutions:

  • DSE assessments for individuals, or for the whole company
  • We  carry out initial assessments, for key staff members and then train DSE assessors to carry out the rest of the assessments in accordance with the DSE regulations (1992 and amended 2002).
  • We provide Display Screen Equipment training handbooks and risk assessment tools (DSE risk assessment form, DSE checklist and DSE sitting posture guidance).

Location  Individual's primary workstation, and secondary locations if in the locale

Report

Yes. This will include photos and detail all pertinent points, with details of any parts of the workstation that need to be changed i.e. seat, mouse, desk, or change in the way the work is carried out

Purpose

 

This assessment will ensure the individual's workstation meets legal obligations (DSE regulations 1992 and amended 2002) to reduce postural, visual and cognitive risks when performing DSE tasks

Reason

Need to meet compliance (DSE regulations 1992 and amended 2002), where a number of assessments need to be undertaken, but company does not have up to date risk assessment forms and checklists.

Level 1 - user completes (with short training module on how to complete)
Level 2 - filled out by trained DSE assessor
